WES IS ALMOST 3! (NEXT MONTH)
Wes used the term "laundry basket" on Sunday, when we were hunting for Alex's cat. "The cat is hiding in the laundry basket." I didn't know he knew the words "laundry" or "basket"!
A few nights ago while laying next to Wes at bedtime, Wes asked me, "Mummy, are you happy?"
"Yes," I smiled.
"Mummy, are you sad?" Wes asked.
"No, I am not sad," I said.
"Mummy is happy, mummy is not sad," he quips.
It was quite a tender moment, with Wes grinning away. He is a sweet boy when he is in a good mood! He is quite chatty when happy, and has many a raucous moment with Erin growling or shouting, or dancing in abandon. See video above.
We are still trying to manage tantrums and him ignoring instructions. One way is to bribe him with sweets and time on the computer, though I don't know if bribing is the best method for discipline! The other thing that he does that annoys E to no end is the intentional destruction of her craft and lego buildings. We find him vehemently stomping on her lego construction or pulling the pieces out aggressively. Not sure what drives that, some psychological motivation? Comparison? Feeling like he is unable to do what she does?
Next week is potty training. We are approaching it with fear and tripidation. Though there is a spark of good news here; yesterday was the first time he wee-ed into the toilet when sitting on it! He previously sat on the toilet happily but nothing happens...
Wes is very interested in trains and all things mechanical. Daddy bought him a model train magazine, which he devours. He also likes the home science project book where it shows how to make rockets, towers, boats etc. Not very interested in letters and numbers or other cute books for his age. We used to read "Where's Spot?" but not any more...
