WES IS 11 MONTHS!

Wes now has 2 bottom teeth!

Wes passed his 1 year old review this week. I felt a sense of achievement when the health visitor described him as "clean and well-presented" in the red book. Small victories.

On the communication front, he is able to understand clap, wave and point. He can also understand "Come here" and crawls towards me happily. He sometimes points at stuff he wants. I also feel that when he says "mama" it is directed to me.

He has massively improved in gross motor skills. He can bend down to pick up something and return to standing position. Today, we saw him stand up from sitting position without holding on to furniture. He cruises along furniture with confidence. When I hold him with both hands he takes a few steps.

As for fine motor skills, he can pick up a blueberry and strands of pasta with his fingers. He can also throw an object with his arm in a forward motion. Wes can also put wooden cubes into toy boxes, and tries to put shapes into shape holes. Today he was seen trying to put the cap onto a bottle, and the cover onto a plastic container.

Personal social: he pushes his arm into his sleeves when I dress him. He also hugs soft toys. He is especially giggly when we play with him. For example, Wes likes to look at the mirror, move out of sight, and look at the mirror again with a smile. He loves funny sounds and tummy tickles. He is always ready for a smile. He is happy to go with people he's seen repeatedly, such as Tim. He seems to listen when I talk to him.

Wes has a special squeal of delight when he sees Erin. They tumble together a lot- sometimes Erin is rough and stresses him out.

Wes is a joy!
