OPEN EYES

Image
Happy 3 weeks old! Can't believe how fast time has passed by. Wesley's opening up his eyes much more now in the last 2 weeks. However, he still spends the majority of his time with his eyes closed- sleeping of course. Our favourite look of his is the pursed lips look. He has a very aggressive cry which stops immediately when the object of annoyance is removed. The dry skin on his body and legs and hands have improved with a daily bath at 11am. Wes is ok with baths;he just hates the going in and getting out of the bath. When he is awake, he is quite happy sitting in his bouncer observing. This generally happens in the evening during dinner. Wes is a consumate milk guzzler, which accounts for his good weight increase. We love you Wes!

SLEEP

Image
Wesley 2 weeks 1 day Wesley 10 days Wesley day 1 Wesley came home with us on Tuesday 9th Nov. The first night he refused to be put down in his sleepyhead. The second night, he slept on my tummy. The third night, he began sleeping in his sleepyhead, waking up only once to feed. The last few nights bar one, he woke up at least 3 times. We prayed over him last night to wake up only once for a feed. He woke up at 3am last night, and then at 6am this morning. Progress!

YOU ARE MY CHAMPION

One of the best moments of my life. Delivery suite This song has taken on a whole new meaning. It will forever be associated with the day that contractions started. The day before Wesley's due date, we decided to go for a membrane sweep. After reading up about it, we thought it will be a procedure worth going for to see if it would trigger labour. The cervix was stimulated, which caused a reflex of contractions in the uterus, and triggered a release of prostagladins. During the procedure, I began to have cramps. Then after the procedure, my cervix which was closed, became 2 centimetres dialated, and the water bag bulged slightly in the opening. I went home slightly sore, but still managed to walk 25 mins to school to pick Erin up. At about 5pm, I felt a big cramp but didn't think much about it. I began to feel cramps after that sporadically. When M came home, the contractions were becoming more regular, so I started timing them. Eventually we decided to send Erin off to R's...
